1 Kings 3:16(NLT)- Some time later two prostitutes came to the king to have an argument settled.
Read it again!
God has blessed Solomon with wisdom( 3: 1-14). There is no one wiser than him.
He is Solomon- the author of many proverbs and psalms, the researcher of plants and animals, administrator and King of Israel. He should be busy using his wisdom in administration, financial matters, foreign relations, army, research etc. But he takes time to settle a dispute between two prostitutes- who are considered outcasts, who are ill-treated and considered low in the society.
Solomon could have told his officials not to bring these petty issues in his court. He could have ordered them to settle this somehow. But he didn't. He used his wisdom to solve the matter. And the mother got her child back. She will be the happiest.
People might have passed comments on Solomon. Why the king is wasting time on these matters when there are many prominent matters to attend. He knows that God gave him wisdom to keep His people happy. Solomon is so wise that even if he spends some time on his people, he can manage the other things as well.
GOD: The King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Almighty, the creator of the universe. He is the God of wisdom. Solomon's wisdom is nothing before God's wisdom.
God's wisdom is giving us air, water, food. His wisdom is keeping the Sun, stars, earth, galaxies in their place. We are living because of His wisdom. He is so powerful, so wise that no one can match His splendour and Majesty.
But, He is always ready to listen to human beings- the sinners, weak, depraved. Don't think that God is busy to take care of heaven, universe, earth etc.. He is eager to listen to us, to our prayers, petitions, feelings etc. He is always and always ready to listen to you. He can even stop the Sun and the moon for you. All our problems, burdens are very small before His wisdom. If Solomon's wisdom was praised all over the world, just imagine how great it will be if God's wisdom works in our lives.
Solomon might have used his wisdom in many other things of prominence- administration, finance etc. But Holy Spirit did not mention those to give an example of Solomon's wisdom. He emphasized this to show us that God, the wisest will have all the time in the world to listen our prayers.
If God is eager to listen, why should we hesitate to pray?
If God is giving His time, why should we waste our time worrying?
Let us go to Him in prayer with assurance and boldness that He is ready to listen and give His wisdom to bring joy in our hearts.
Amen!
